The Shadowed Squares series had its beginnings in a 1930s photograph of my great grandfather. It was one of those vanilla colored square prints with deckled edges, curved with age. The way it cast a blurry halo of shadow over the others and evoked in me a sense of the way  we are influenced by the past which is always obscure.
